Public Science Education

The department has expanded its traditional efforts in public outreach into a novel programmatic strength in public science education. Our Bug House, summer Bug Camps for Kids, as well as the emerging emphasis on insect conservation and zookeeping, are all achieving national prominence.

1. Bug Camp

Bug Camp is a special 1/2-day science program for young children beginning their discovery of the insect world. Programs are designed for 6-8 and 9-11-year-olds.

2. MSU Bug House

The Bug House is an exploration of the fascinating world of insects. A huge exhibit of pinned specimens is just a prelude to the excellent collection of live insects.

3. Insect World Science Camp

Insect World Science Camp is a four-day camp for children ages 9-12 years that focuses on exploring and studying insects in their natural environment.
