Dr. Pett is involved in an international research project developing genetically engineered potatoes that control insect pests for developing countries. This is a collaborative project with thte MSU potato breeding laboratory and scientists from Egypt, South Africa, Indonesia and Peru. He is also part of the Vegetable Entomology Project and conducts research on managing insect pests that are problems for Michigan vegetable growers. Other research interests include the effects of genetically engineered pollen on the development and mortality of honey bee larva.
